What Do You Fear?

“I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” – Psalm 34:4

A few years ago, fear terrorized my life.

I wouldn’t travel on escalators because I have this memory of being thrown down an escalator when I was little.  I’ve never been able to verify the reality of the incident, but  I would have a panic attack if I had to ride on one.

Over the summer, I went to Vegas, where I traveled on many steep escalators.  Still a little afraid but I did it anyway.

I was afraid of talking to people on the phone and in person several years ago too.  I would have panic attacks if I had to speak…not just in public…at all.

Now I speak to lots of people who come to drop-off and pick-up their prescriptions or who call on the phone.  I am friendly and can have a conversation with anyone.

So many times I sought the Lord during those dark times, asking Him to deliver me of my fears, asking Him to deliver me from the panic attacks…and He did.

Four years ago, the journey I am on now of relocating to another state, of having to trust Him every step of the way, would have been impossible, but here I am.

This experience has taught me how far God has brought me.

Look back at how you were five years ago and how you are now.  Is there a difference?  What has God brought you out of?  What has He delivered your from?

These are indeed things to be thankful to God for today.
