Is The Dam Broken?

// Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. – Proverbs 16:3 (NIV).

This Scripture tells us to commit whatever we do to the Lord, and He will establish our plans.

In the King James Version, it says that He will establish our thoughts.  I tend to lean toward that version because God is not going to establish every plan we have.

After all, we are only human.  He is God.  He knows the beginning from the end.  He knows the obstacles we will face from doing things our way.

He will establish our thoughts when we commit, when we surrender, whatever we do to Him.  He will change our thoughts to think like Him.  He will put in our thoughts His solution to our problem,  His plan instead of ours.

There is a release, a dam that is broken, when we learn to surrender whatever problems we are having in our lives to God.

It is like we are giving God permission to work in our lives.

We are given free will, and many times God will wait for us to ask Him to help us.  Many times He will wait for us to surrender, to commit, that problem to Him before He will give us the answer.

We have to surrender how we think it should work out.  We have to surrender what we think the outcome should be.  We have to just trust that God knows what He is doing.

God will work everything out for our good (Romans 8:28).  His plans are not to harm us but to prosper us (Jeremiah 29:11).

We just have to surrender our problems to God and trust Him to do the rest.
