“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. – Genesis 12:2 (NIV)
We are not blessed by God to be hoarders, to just store up what God has given us.
God blesses us, so that we can bless others, so that we can share what we have.
We cannot bless others if we ourselves aren’t blessed. We cannot give what we don’t have–if we are barely making it in our finances or if we cannot function without mind-blowing pain.
Contrary to popular belief, though, we do not earn our blessings.
Once we have accepted Christ, we are now in Him. We have His righteousness instead of ours. His blessings instead of ours.
We are blessed based on what Jesus did for us and not what we can do for Him. Our “good” works couldn’t earn us a place in Heaven and will not earn us any blessings.
The more we became Jesus-conscious, the more blessings we will see in our lives. The more blessings we see, the more we can bless others.
