“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” – Matthew 11:29 (NIV).
Ever see God as an ogre that cannot be pleased? A hard taskmaster that will punish you if you don’t get everything done His way?
No, He wants us to find rest for our souls.
You know what your soul is, right? Your racing mind, your failing will and your out-of-control emotions.
How do we find that rest?
By depending on God and what His Word says.
It is when meditate (muttering Scripture over and over to ourselves) on His love for us that we find that rest–that freedom and peace in our souls.
Imagine! The Creator of the Universe loves you. Not as a whole, as in God loves everyone.
No, God loves you individually. He had an indelible tattoo of you on the palm of His hand. He bottles your tears and knows how many hairs you have on the top of your head.
When we meditate on how much God loves us, our circumstance may not seem any different, but, in our hearts and minds, there will be a rest, a peace, that surpasses understanding.
Meditate on God’s love for you today.
