Telling Your Story?

But Peter and John replied, "Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard." – Acts 4:19-20.

γ€€

When given the opportunity to speak about what God has done in your life, do you use it? When it is on your own time?

Many of us, even when we outside of work, don’t tell people how God healed our knee or how God sent us extra work opportunities at just the right time or how God brought our child home.

Why? Because we are afraid we are going to offend someone.

When God gives you an opportunity, take it because you have no idea if today is that person’s last day on Earth. You never know what is going on in their lives and how your story might be the jolt they needed to keep going. πŸ™‚

Are You Disqualified?

γ€€

If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up." – Daniel 3:17-18 (NIV)

People use this Scripture to back up their claim that you never know what God is going to do. Yes, we do. The three Hebrew children needed deliverance. He delivered them. Daniel needed rescued. He rescued him. We do not see one person who came to Jesus in the Bible that He turned away.

God does not disqualify us based on our behaviour. He qualifies us because of what Jesus did on the Cross.

However, we can disqualify ourselves through our belief that God is not predictable and only heals, delivers and rescues if He is in a good mood, through our belief that we have to earn our blessings.

When we disqualify ourselves, we stop the flow of miracles from reaching our lives.

Don’t qualify yourself according to you but according to what Jesus already did at the Cross. πŸ™‚

Are You Listening?

"Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: β€˜Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.’ " – (1 Kings 17:2–4, NIV)

God is always guiding and directing us. The problem is that most of the time we are not listening to His instructions. We are not tuning in, quieting down our minds and lives, to hear Him.

My favorite line from the X-Files is where Scully in the episode All Souls says "I’m afraid God is speaking, and no one is listening."

The sad part is even His children aren’t listening to Him.

Let’s make listening to God a moment by moment thing. πŸ™‚

Walking Through The Right Doors?

"I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name." (Revelation 3:8, ESV)

In life, there will always be challenges and situations that come up that we find difficult. One thing is true, though, we need to depend on God to open doors for us and to shut the ones that are no good for us.

I dated a man that I knew in my heart wasn’t the one, but I decided to settle. I thought no one else would come along, so I intended on settling in the land of second best. I finally became frustrated, and I broke up with him. About to get back with him, I took a trip to my favorite place, only to see him and to have my heart broken by the way he acted like it never bothered him.

God shut that door…and shut it tightly.

I could have beat down the door and made things work out, but I would have missed out on God’s best for me.

What doors are God opening for you today? Which ones are He closing? Are you walking through the right ones? πŸ™‚

Whose Honor Are You Valuing?

"How can ye believe, which receive honor one of another, and seek not the honor that cometh from God only?" (John 5:44 KJV).

Who are you seeking honor from? Your parents? Your boss? Your spouse? That honor is fleeting, for but a moment. Honor from God will last your lifetime. Learn to depend on people’s opinions less, and God’s opinion more. πŸ™‚

Are Your Lions Quiet?

γ€€

γ€€

γ€€

"My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight…" –

Daniel 6:22 NIV

I have a lot of challenging customers that come into my place of business. I am a pharmacy technician, so I get a lot of people who like to complain. They like to take their frustrations out on me.

We had one who really made it known that he didn’t like me a few weeks ago. Something went wrong with his insurance, and I became his target.

I prayed Isaiah 54:17, "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn."

When he came in today, I waited on him, and he thanked me. God shut the mouth of the lions.

There have been many times in this job where God has shut the mouths of my accusers and caused me to rise above the rest. All for His glory…and honor.

What lions’ mouths can God shut for you today? πŸ™‚

Can God Hear You?

γ€€

I went through a period of real dark depression. I was frustrated with my financial situation. And I heard God in the midst of the depression say, "Are you going to trust Me?"

I have got to be honest. I was in so deep that I couldn’t. And He understood that and waited me out. He brought me out regardless.

Too many times by church people that God has no patience. That is absolutely not true.

God doesn’t leave us when we are angry at Him, when we are in grief and depression. He is with us all the time.

We can call on Him day or night. We can have the confidence that God always hears us.

Since Jesus took the punishment for our sins, there is nothing hindering God from hearing us. Absolutely nothing. πŸ™‚

Where Is The Good From?

γ€€

LORD, you establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished you have done for us. – Isaiah 26:12 (NIV)

All that we have accomplished you have done for us. God has caused the good things to happen in our lives. Our good health, new clients coming in, being financially sound, having a job, having a wonderful family. It is all God. If you don’t think so, ask God to remove His hedge around you and see what happens. James 1:17 tells us that every good and perfect gift is from above.

Acknowledge God for all the wonderful things He has brought into your life today. πŸ™‚

Where Is Your Wilderness?

So Moses told the people what the LORD had said, but they wouldn’t listen anymore. They had become too discouraged by the increasing burden of their slavery. – Exodus 6:9 (NLT).

γ€€

I have never been in slavery, but I have been in an abusive situation so long that when God spoke to me about my future, I didn’t listen. Why? Because I saw no way out. I only saw the mess I was in. I only saw my circumstances. I stopped believing it could get better. I was discouraged.

But it is God who turned my situation around. It is God that brought me through my own wilderness and time of deep discouragement.

It is only God who can bring you out of whatever wilderness, whatever place of bondage you are in right now. Not you. Him. Trust Him and see what situation turn around. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but it will turn around. πŸ™‚

What Are You Sowing?

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. – Galatians 6:7 (KJV)

If we sow friendship and kindness, we will reap friendship and kindness. Only it might not be from the person we showed friendship and kindness to in the first place.

God doesn’t always use the route we used to sow the seed to bring us our harvest. God will always bring us our harvest, just not always in the package we expect…and it will always be above and beyond anything we can ask for, dream or desire.
